Hello and Welcome to my specially dedicated page to Puppies and their new owners. This page will give you all the information on suitable training classes for puppies with available dates and venues offered by Caterham Chipstead and Coulsdon Dog Training Club.

Puppies can start classes as soon as their vaccinations are completed, usually 10 weeks of age. Vets will usually advise not to take them out for 1 week after this. However whilst, puppies should not go for walks in the park and socialise with unknown dogs until their vaccinations are complete there is no reason why they cannot attend a puppy socialisation class in an indoor venue. The earlier you start training your puppy the better and socialisation is the first part of their training to overcome insecurities and develop good manners. Sometimes it is also helpful to have someone visit and advise when you have just acquired a new puppy. I am happy to do a Home Starter visit and provide you with all the information you need to have confidence with teaching your new puppy.

'Please see class options below and review the Club calender or contact the trainer for information on dates.'

Thursday evening. 7pm and Tuesday 6.45pm at Coulsdon
Monday. 1.30pm and 6.30pm at Parsons Pightle, Old Coulsdon.

The training is based on The Puppy Foundation Course as recommended by The Kennel Club. Training includes socialisation, walk to heel, come when called, stay when told; Advice and information on care, management of behaviour such as jumping up and biting, and responsibilities of dog ownership. A Puppy record book and fact sheets are provided. Upon successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate . Old Coulsdon courses are for 6 weeks and at Hooley are run as 8 weekly sessions.  The course consists of basic puppy training, followed by improver puppy training for a further 6 weeks. If you wish you can then progress to the Puppy/Junior class.

To help you settle your special friend into the home and start early training.

Puppy Socialisation

Monday 1.00pm or 6.00pm at Old Coulsdon.
Hooley, Coulsdon Tuesday/Thursday 6.30pm
These classes are suitable for puppies aged 8 - 20 weeks only. These classes are dependant upon demand and you will need to check what is available with myself (07713 711535 or )

This is a starter for the new owner of a very young puppy and also aimed at building confidence in the puppy. These sessions act as a feeder to the Puppy Foundation course (completion of vaccinations is not required but the first vaccination at 8 weeks should have been done.) Expectation is that puppy would be registered for the next suitable puppy foundation course.

Puppy Training Walks - Weekends

These training sessions will focus on training your puppy on a walk in a safe area. The aim is to assist socialisation and control. i.e getting puppy to come back when called and to walk on lead and being happy and confident. (Maximum of 5 per session and will be approximately 60 minutes. Dates for these walks will be by arrangement so please review the club calendar and discuss with myself if interested.

These are held monthly during the summer, please see current events on home page or contact the trainer for date of next walk. You will need to register your interest, you cannot just turn up.
